WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA AND LENS DO YOU USE?
I use a Canon 5D Mark IV, Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 lens, Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens, Canon16-35mm 2.8 lens, and Sigma 24mm 1.4 lens. The Sigma 24-70mm lens is the lens I use most often for photos.
WHAT ARE LIGHTROOM PRESETS?
A Lightroom preset is a collection of photo edit settings inside of Lightroom that are bundled into a single click allowing you to edit photos far more efficiently than you would otherwise by repeating those same settings and editing steps one-by-one. These presets are the exact ones that I use on my photos.
WHAT ARE PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS?
Photoshop Actions are a series of recorded steps to achieve a look without having to manually apply each process. At a click of a button, it enhances and enriches your photos in a fast and efficient way that speeds up photo editing by automating the process.
LIGHTROOM VS. PHOTOSHOP?
Presets work inside Adobe Lightroom and actions work inside Adobe Photoshop. Lightroom is the primary editing software of choice for both professionals and hobbyists. Not only is it far easier to use and learn compared to Photoshop, but within Lightroom all of your edits are non-destructive. That means that your original unedited photo is always stored in Lightroom so you can experiment as much or as little as you want, without ever degrading the quality of your original image. That being said, there are a few specific areas where Photoshop outperforms Lightroom. Photoshop allows composites, advanced retouching, and advanced healing. If you want to replace the sky or add clouds, bubbles, sun flares, etc. to a photo, Photoshop is needed. If you want to make an arm thinner or a person taller, Photoshop is also needed. While you can remove blemishes, whiten teeth, and remove small objects in Lightroom, the capabilities aren't as customizable as Photoshop's healing brush and patch tools.
HOW ARE LIGHTROOM PRESETS + PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS USEFUL?
Rather than editing each photo from start to finish, you'll be able to instantly get your photos to an 85-90% edited state with only one click with presets and actions, which saves you a lot of time. When you edit an entire batch of photos using the same presets and actions across the whole photo set, it will give your images a more uniform look, as opposed to editing each and every photo one-by-one, which can yield an inconsistent look to your image set. Learning any new software can also be intimidating, and takes time to master. While it's certainly important to always take strides at truly learning the program, using presets and actions will let you instantly get started in Lightroom and Photoshop, and edit your photos simpler than ever before.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DESKTOP PRESETS + MOBILE PRESETS?
Desktop presets are used on Adobe Lightroom on a desktop computer. For desktop presets, you can still apply it if you shoot in jpeg format, but you will get the best results possible if you shoot in RAW. Mobile presets are used on your phone. For mobile presets, you will need to download the FREE mobile Lightroom app.
SHOULD I GET MOBILE OR DESKTOP PRESETS?
Desktop presets are perfect for those who want to step up their photography and Instagram game to a new level. If you're a photo hobbyist or casual photographer and you only use your phone for taking photos, mobile presets will do just fine.
HOW DO I DOWNLOAD MOBILE PRESETS TO MY MOBILE DEVICE?
These are 2 installation methods.
iPhone Installation Method
Please view this video for instructions.
Note: Update your phone to the latest iOS. You can download the .ZIP folder to iCloud Drive for those with iOS 8, OSX Yosemite (version 10.10), or Windows 7 or later. You can download the .ZIP folder to the Files app in iOS 11 or later.
Desktop Installation Method
1. Double click the .ZIP folder to open and uncompress the files.
2. Once you have saved the preset files to your desktop, send the DNG files to your phone via AirDrop, Email, Google Drive, or Dropbox. The zipped file folder containing the presets will not download directly to your mobile device.
3. Once downloaded, they should automatically be saved in your camera roll.
4. The imported images will look like white squares in your camera roll, but once you are in the Lightroom App, you will see the corresponding images.
5. Open the Lightroom Mobile App and add the DNG images to your Lightroom.

DO I NEED TO SHOOT MY PHOTOS IN RAW TO USE THE PRESETS?
No. If you are planning on using the mobile presets, you can just use your phone camera or any other camera. If you are planning on using the desktop presets, then you may want to consider shooting your photos in RAW. It is not necessary, but if you want to improve your photography game, I recommend shooting in RAW because you will have more control over how your photo looks during post-production.
HOW DO I SHOOT IN RAW?
It is a setting you can set within the Menu section of your camera. Every camera is different so it's best to Google how to shoot in RAW with your camera body.
WHAT IF MY PHOTOS DON'T LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE ONES I SEE ON @ATSUNAMATSUI'S INSTAGRAM?
Each photo is different and is taken with different location, lighting, camera settings, cameras, and lenses. All these play a role in how a photo will turn out. Although your photos may look slightly different, my presets will put you at a great starting point and will allow you to create photos with a very similar look and feel. While I am sharing with you the exact presets I use, I tweak almost every photo depending on what it needs even after matching the perfect preset. If you see the world slightly different, please be ready to tweak the presets to your own liking. Use #atsunapresets on Instagram to get featured on my stories.
HOW DO I ADJUST MY SKIN TONE IN LIGHTROOM?
Go to your Oranges in the color section on the right-hand side of Lightroom. Play around with saturation and luminance until you find the color that is right for your skin tone.
ARE YOUR PRESETS + ACTIONS NON-REFUNDABLE?
All digital purchases are non-refundable, but we will work with you to make sure you're happy with your presets and actions.
